...ja vielä, koska ..... Kiitos!!

"ja vielä, koska en lopeta lähettää sinulle viestejä , tämä on, miten se on tarkoitus olla ?, sinulle ass ! Mutta, rauha , minä annan sinulle tilaa eikä lisää kommentteja minulta . kiitos!"

It took me a long time to create the Finnish phrase " .... And yet because I do not stop sending you messages, this is what it is supposed to be? ...You ASS! ... But, for peace, I will give you space and no more comments from me. Thank you!"

Whew! That was a good exercise in parsing phrases and putting it together to make sense.  I think, that Suomen Kieli (Finnish Language) is so hard when the root word can create many words depending on who is speaking, whether it is used in itself or in a compound word, etc, it might have a few to a hundred variations of the same thing in order to make sense in the context of the sentence. That said, I am exhausted in a week long lesson learning just to say a few friendly words in "Soumi"

I leave this learning session with great apprehension that I may never learn it in my lifetime. To all FB Finnish friends who had helped me in translation, I thank you and will continue to be aware of more Finnish words as they come my way in the future.

I will always remember the Finnish guy from Turku, who introduced me to "Suomi" language and may he thrive in his English translations. This is ST, Sami of Turku, to whom I have written a week-long blog of Finnish words and explanations!

Hyvää Isaänpävää (Finnish) Happy Father's Day!

Hyvää Isaänpävää (Finnish) Happy Father's Day!

Seems easy enough, but while looking for the words in Finnish to greet friends in celebration, I found that the word "Hyvää" did not just mean goodnight. Hyvää means good or happy!  I looked at my notes again and in hindsight, must have forgotten to post yötä to describe night in Hyvää yotä !

I struggle at the construction of the sentence, but then again, I learn more things that are so unique in this language of Suomen Kieli [Soumi]; Finnish.

I will need to re-think my position to continue learning this language as I cook pyttipannu (diced friend potatoes, onions and sausage), riisipurro (rice pudding).  I wonder if cooking Finnish foods will help me in my decision to learn.

To all the fathers, who are reading this post:
Hyvää Isaänpävää (Finnish) Happy Father's Day! Enjoy and for the remaining 364 days, it is celebrating Happy Mother's Day!

Kunnosa.. Hyvää! Ja.. Goedenacht Ok.. Good night!

Struggling with Finnish words and phrases as I learn to understand the structure and contents of the language today, I struggle with another diversion!

Here comes my visiting sorority sisters from university, one of them being fluent in Dutch since she resides in Amsterdam.

She introduces several phrases as we are in conversation.  I keep away from her with the notion of  my inability to deal with two unfamiliar languages at the same time.

I remember the first Finnish words I learned from ST and they are " Hyvää yotä (good night) & kunnosa (OK)".  My Dutch speaking sorority sister says "Ja.. Goedenacht. mar wat doe je klagen over?"  OK, Good Night, but, what are you complaining about?

Mut mitä valitat? Finnish phrase seems easier to remember.  But, what are you complaining about?

Now, I am getting confused! Easy enough now to revert back to English.  I think, I better stick to English and converse in Filipino!  This is hard work indeed!

"Suklaa" - Tupla Nutkick (Finnish; Chocolate)

Running errands are enjoyable @ times.  I have not tasted Maltesers chocolate since high school in Baguio City.  Maltesers chocolate is sold under trade name MARS Chocolate. While at the supermarket, I picked up a bag of Maltesers from the neatly stacked shelf without any compunction.

The bag @ 165 grams is almost finished as I write this post.  The red packaging reminds me of a suklaa (finnish word; chocolate) with the same package coloring. I am not in possession of that Finnish chocolate presently, but, I do remember buying 2 Suklaa Tupla NutkKick and a blue color packaged suklaa called Frazer chocolate.  The Frazer Suklaa had a more refined taste of milky chocolate; the Suklaa Tupla NutKick, a little rougher in texture. The storekeeper dissuaded me from buying 3 Suklaa Tupla, since it takes a brave person (a man) to get 3 Tupla NutKicks, a common joke amongst the locals. Thus, he suggested I get 2 Tupla Nut Kicks and a blue colored Frazer.

I did not quite get the joke then, but now wishing to possess 3 Suklaa Tupla and nutkick the hell out of ST, my Suklaa Tupla!

"Sytytystulppa" [Finnish; spark plug]

I was looking for an English equivalent to the Finnish word "" , which led me to the word sytystulppa meaning spark plug. I wish it meant "smart thug" to fit in into the acronym ST!

But the word sytystulppa although a mouthful to pronounce, can at least be written without stopping to add a glyph to a letter, common in the Finnish language specifically the letter "ä"

For now, my channeling of excess energy is to learn more Finnish words, so frustrating but beautiful sounding to my ears. This morning, I learned a few words such as lämpimämpi - warmer, lohi -salmon (subconsciously seen this on product packaging for smoked salmon), käärme (snake).

Vihdoin (finally), came across a 61 letter word, both hard to look at & hard to pronounce.  I stop here with a sigh that in the middle of the 61 letter word, it contains the English equivalent of "HELP ME!"

I never found the equivalent of word "cä" in English terms. Tomorrow is another day!

"Vastaa" [Finnish] - Vietnamese Banana Cake

Channeling energies by baking Vietnamese Banana cake, makes perfect "vastaa" [good answer or reply; Finnish word] ... compared to driving fast aimlessly like a lunatic race driver. I laugh, but I think it is better than self pity.

I am on my way to get the ingredients for the recipe given me, as I nurse my sanity to normalcy. Seems easy to hammer through a lot of bananas (12 ripe) and channel my aggression to something more purposeful, as it awakens my senses for vanilla & sugary scents, the answer to life's expectancy!

I LOL (laugh out loud) to compensate for LAL (laughing a little) or ROFLMAO (rolling on floor, laughing my ass off), a median for saner things in life. I am still in the process, in curtailing my insanity in the hope that this will pass sooner than I anticipated.

Mut mitä valitat? A Wonderful Beginning

Staying positive takes a lot of courage, staying negative drains energy big time.

"Mut mitä valitat?" [ Finnish phrase] ..But, what are you complaining  about?

It took me a lot of hours this morning to wean off this feeling of rejection ... Getting BLOCKED!

A few days ago, the world seems a brighter day from the usual humdrum of everyday life. I got caught up in the moment and went "Gung Ho" on everything I did. My enthusiasm might have choked and exhausted someone's curiosity and BAM! The world seemingly exploded around me.

I learn my lessons well. I learn them fast. So, on a final note to today's post I decided to re-channel my energies to a more positive output,  with apologies to ST, my soulmate to travelling!  **Be well, friend and best regards!
